Abstract

Background:

Modern humans face many diverse problems, but environmental pollution is considered one of the important issues, indeed one of the most dangerous and complex problems of the era, and the hardest to solve because it is a problem with health, social, and economic dimensions due to its repercussions. Objective: Study of the impact of gases emitted from building brick factories and their impact on humans by measuring some parameters such as (PCV, Hb%, ESR, and ESR) and liver enzymes (AST, ALT).

Materials and methods:

In this study, (103) samples blood take from man working in the brick factory in Al-Shomali non-smoking were collected from September 2024 to October 2024 and taken 103 non-smoking healthy men from the rural village of Al-Madhatiyah served as the control group.

Results:

The results shown increase in PCV (%) in the study group 48.5±2.2 compared to the control group 45.1 ±1.6, with statistical significance P-value=0.005** and Hb (g/dL) in the study group 16.5±1.6 compared to the control group 14.2±1.2, with statistical significance P-value=0.004**. Also the ESR (mm/hr) show significant increase in the study group 18.1±3.4 compared to the control group 10.6±2.7, with highly statistical significance P-value=0.001**, and significant increase in ALT (U/L) in the study group 35.4±4.4 compared to the control group 28.4±3.8, with statistical significance P-value=<0.05* and Hb (g/dL) in the study group 16.5±1.6 compared to the control group 14.2±1.2, with statistical significance P-value=<0.004** conclusion: The length of exposure has a clear role in affecting blood parameters and liver enzymes AST, ALT and ALP.
