Clinical Picture of Hospitalized Patients with Heart Failure in Mosul Teaching Hospitals

Background: Heart failure is a global pandemic influencing an estimated 26 million people world-wide and leading to more than 1 million hospitalizations every year in both united states and Europe. It is a clinical syndrome that develops when defects in the myocardium's structure and function reduce the ventricles' ability to fill or affect cardiac output.
Aim: To investigate and analyze the clinical characteristics, demographic information, underlying comorbidities, and treatment patterns of patients with heart failure.
Methods: A prospective descriptive design was adopted from 29th December 2022 to 15th October 2023 to achieve the objectives of the present study. The sample size was (110) patients (males and females), and out of those participants (10) patients were excluded from the study sample done in Ibn -Sina and AL-Salam teaching hospitals.
Results: (34%) of patients presented with heart failure was aged from (66-75) years old. The highest percentage of the study sample is male to be (61%). Arrythmia is the highest level to be (52%). (49%) of patients are suffering from (atrial fibrillation), while (cardiomyopathy) is the lowest level to be (10%). Most of patients used diuretics (79%) of them. Heart rhythm problems are the most complications of heart failure to be (52%).
Conclusions: Heart rhythm problems is the most common complications of heart failure. There is a direct relationship between the expectation of developing of arrythmia and heart failure.
