Therapeutic Efects of Formulated Purple Fleshed Potato and Peels of Purple Fleshed Potato-Soybean (Solanum Tuberosum) Based Dietson Haematological Indices of Wistar Rats Induced with Trypanosomiasis

This study aims at evaluating the therapeutic and haematological activities of formulated purple fleshed potatobased diet and peels of Purple Potato based diet on Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) and Animals African Trypanosomiasis (AAT) in albino rats respectively.Anaemia, has been the most significant clinical symptom of Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), and Animal African Trypanosomiasis with grievance consequence. Thirtyanimals were randomly divided into five (5) groups (non-infected fed with rat pellet, infected fed with rat pellet only, infected treated with formulated diet PFP1SJC3G2 only, infected treated with PPL4SJC3G2 diet and infected treated with drug) of six rats each. The diets were administered once daily and drugs once in the cause of the experiment. The clearance of parasites after day two of post treatment with formulated diets for (HAT and AAT) and significant increased p>0.05) in RBC, PCV and MCV when compare with the control indicated that the purple fleshed potato and peels of potato-based diets exhibited therapeutic effect.
